SPI system#

Product Overview#

The SPI Rack is low-noise and stable modular system for DC current and DC voltage source modules. Modules are designed to maximize output stability. Together with the galvanically isolated control interface and isolated power supply, ground loops are avoided and interference (like 50 Hz) is minimized.

An SPI Rack with a C1b galvanically isolated controller and D5a voltage sources.

The SPI rack operates together with an external power chain, separate from the mainframe. The following list provides details on each of the system’s key components:

To set up the SPI rack properly, please carefully read through information in Handling and Setup SPI.

Additionally, The SPI mainframe can house the following modules:

  • C1b: Isolated controller which consists of two parts:

    • C1b which is the controller module and is inserted in the leftmost slot inside the SPI rack.

    • C2 which is an isolator box.

  • S4g: 4-channel DC current source and voltage monitor.

  • d5a: 16-channel DC voltage source.

Note

The addresses on an SPI module is labeled directly on the module and can be found on the left side of the module.

Important

The address of the modules and the slots they are placed in the SPI rack are not related. Each module of the SPI has an encoded address which may span from 1 to 16, and they can be in any slot. If two modules inside of an SPI rack shares the same address, the addresses will clash and the SPI rack will not be able to differentiate the two modules and can therefore not communicate with either of the modules. Make sure that you have unique addresses of the modules, housed inside of an SPI rack. If there are clashing addresses and only one SPI rack to house the duplicated modules, please contact support@qblox.com.
